Vitruvian Man
There are three classes of people: those who see. Those who see when they are shown. Those who do not see.

Just a note: Leonardo based his drawing of Vitruvian Man (at left) on ideas of the correlation between ideal human proportions and geometry contained in Book III of the treatise De Architectura by the ancient Roman architect Vitruvius (hence the name “Vitruvian”). To oversimplify, Leonardo viewed the workings of the human body as an analogy for the workings of the universe. Some scholars also believe the drawing depicts an important symbolization for Leonardo: the intersection between material existence with the square, and spiritual existence with the circle. In this way, he is representing the correlation between two interlocked aspects of human existence. (See more here, for starters.)
This is a little parable for TDS visitors. I know you will always feel free to ignore the political (or quasi-political) cartoons and articles I post from time to time, and instead focus strictly on the hot eye candy — though I’d rather you consider them both. The world is light and dark, yin and yang. Because of that, I believe all of us have the obligation, one way or another, to shed light amid the persistent darkness — that is how we see — even if it is by means of a lowly, modest blog. We all dwell between the circle and the square.
